Historic Preservation
Unparalleled Historic Preservation
Over the past 30 years Spectrum has built a huge variety of adaptive re-use projects, and historic preservation is a natural extension of this work. In addition to our skilled master craftsmen, we have the support of our millwork, steel, and historic window and door preservation shops. Spectrum’s historic preservation projects have won numerous local and state awards.
The Shops At Spectrum
Our window and door preservation shop and crew are unique to the Rocky Mountain area. We have a separate 9,000 sf restoration workshop for off-site stripping, re-glazing, restoring, refinishing, and custom replacement of historic doors, windows, storefronts, louvers, trim, etc. Our expert crew of men and women has developed sophisticated techniques using old world craft and the latest technology, while maintaining the highest level of environmental and worker protection.
What You Should Know
Historic window preservation is often misunderstood: A properly restored window lasts many times longer than a new replacement, is remarkably energy efficient, and has the cared for ‘patina of time’ look which new products can never recreate. Also, restoration is no more expensive than quality replacement.
Some of our notable historic preservation projects include:
Equitable Building
Denver Public Schools
Barth Hotel
Denver Fire Department
Denver University
Johnson & Wales University
Hundreds of privately owned historic and near-historic buildings, both commercial
and residential
